Product Catalog & Moderation

Manage the product catalog, moderate vendor submissions, organize categories and collections, and handle bulk operations.

Product Catalog & Moderation

The Products module gives admins full control over the marketplace product catalog. This includes reviewing vendor product submissions, organizing the catalog with categories and collections, managing brands, and performing bulk operations.

The main product list displays all products across all vendors with rich filtering and search.

Product Moderation

When vendors submit new products or update existing ones, they enter a pending review queue. The moderation interface lets admins review and act on submissions efficiently.

Navigate to Products > Pending Review to see all products awaiting moderation.

Click a product to review its title, description, images, pricing, variants, and category assignment. Check for:

  • Accurate and appropriate product title and description
  • High-quality images that match the product
  • Correct pricing and variant configuration
  • Appropriate category and attribute assignment
  • Compliance with marketplace policies (no prohibited items)
  • Approve — The product is published to the marketplace immediately.
  • Reject — The product is sent back to the vendor with a rejection reason. The vendor can revise and resubmit.

QA Tools

The moderation interface includes quality assurance tools:

ToolDescription
Image checkVerify image quality, dimensions, and appropriateness
Price checkCompare pricing against similar products on the platform
Description checkDetect placeholder text, excessive formatting, or policy violations
Duplicate checkFlag products that appear to duplicate existing listings

Bulk Operations

Perform actions on multiple products at once by selecting them from the product list:

Enable / Disable

Bulk enable or disable selected products. Disabled products are hidden from the storefront but not deleted.

Pricing Update

Apply a percentage increase or decrease to all selected products, or set fixed prices for specific variants.

Category Assignment

Move selected products to a different category or add them to additional categories.

Collection Assignment

Add or remove selected products from collections.

Import & Export

Import

Upload products in bulk using CSV or JSON files:

  • Download the import template with required columns and formatting rules
  • Fill in product data including title, description, variants, prices, and images (as URLs)
  • Upload the file and review the validation report
  • Confirm the import to create or update products

Export

Export the product catalog or a filtered subset:

  • Choose export format: CSV or JSON
  • Select columns to include
  • Apply any active filters before exporting
  • Download the generated file

Exports include all product data: title, description, variants, pricing, inventory, categories, and vendor attribution.

Categories

Manage the hierarchical category tree that organizes the marketplace catalog.

ActionDescription
CreateAdd a new category with name, slug, description, image, and parent category
EditUpdate category details, reorder within the hierarchy, change parent
DeleteRemove a category (products in the category must be reassigned first)
ReorderDrag and drop to change the display order of categories at the same level

Categories support unlimited nesting depth (e.g., Electronics > Computers > Laptops > Gaming Laptops).

Collections

Collections are curated groups of products that can span multiple categories (e.g., "Summer Sale", "New Arrivals", "Staff Picks").

  • Create collections with a title, description, and cover image
  • Add products manually or define automatic rules (e.g., all products in a category with a specific tag)
  • Set collection visibility (published/draft)
  • Schedule collections to go live at a specific date and time

Brands

Manage the brand directory used across the catalog:

  • Create, edit, and delete brands
  • Each brand has a name, logo, and description
  • Assign brands to products during product creation or editing
  • Filter the product list by brand

Spec Templates

Spec templates define structured attribute sets for product categories. For example, the "Laptops" category might have a spec template with fields for screen size, processor, RAM, and storage.

  • Create templates with custom fields (text, number, select, multi-select, boolean)
  • Assign templates to categories
  • When vendors create products in that category, they are prompted to fill in the spec template fields
  • Spec data is searchable and filterable on the storefront

Well-defined spec templates improve the shopping experience by enabling precise filtering and comparison between products.
